I often use some large fancy philosophical terms on the show. Here is the definitions of all of the words I’ve caught that might need defining. If there was a word you didn’t know, contact me and I’ll put it on the list. If I have a bad definition, contact me and we can discuss.
Epistemology: “2nd branch of philosophy, concerned with knowledge”. What do we know and how do we know it?
Metaphysics: “1st branch of philosophy, concerned with existence and reality”. What exists?
Ethics: “3rd branch of philosophy, concerned with living a good life and morality”. What does it mean to live a good life? How do we do it? What actions are ethically permissible?
Politics: “4th branch of philosophy, concerned with applying ethics to society”. How do we get others to live a good life? How do we keep others from hindering us in our quest for living a good life? What’s the best system to do this?
Philosophy: “the rational investigation of the truths and principles of being, knowledge, or conduct”, or in reference to a philosophy “a particular system of thought”
Anarchy: “without rulers”, stems from Greek roots of “an” meaning “without” and “archos” meaning “rulers”. Anarchy does not mean “chaos
Coercion: “the use or the threat of the use of force.”
Government: “the body of people that govern a given area and people”.
Govern: “to rule”.
