I’m giving a talk on yak fiber at a fiber show this weekend. Here’s the information that I’ll be giving. Buy yak fiber!

Good show. Two questions:
1. How hard is it to brush the fibers out? I have two dogs and I’ve seen sheep and alpacas being sheared but the idea of brushing any significant amount of fiber out of an animal seems crazy hard.
2. What do you think of alpacas? It seems like a similar animal to raise for fiber.
I have not tried to brush them out yet, I’ve heard it’s intensive to get the fiber though.
I personally despise any sort of woolly animal, I really only like hogs, bovine, and house pets. You have to shear alpacas, and they’re fiber isn’t as great as yak. Sheep, llamas, goats, and alpacas I don’t really like. They’re just weird, and sheep and goats are annoying.
